Simple and Quality Kodak P820 8" Digital Photo Frame

Mark A. Willett from Brighton, UK - 5 out of 5.

Really pleased with this purchase. It was for my 80 year old father, so just needed to show pictures when switched on which it does. simple to use and configure, i like the touch screen frame surround, very easy interface. nice size screen and good clarity. Worth paying a little more for this basic digital frame, reccommended.

(Not enough) Value for money

Ozgur Altan from UK - 4 out of 5.

I bought two of these as a gift to grand parents to go with a memo stick full of photos and did not do mcuh 'technical' research. I am now disappointed with
-the quality of the viewing, not enought pixels to show your high quality photos and colours are too unnatural.
-did not know it was not suitable for sound, music and videos (thought in year 2009 wih these things around four-five years now, all should be able to perform these basic functions)
-one wrong touch during the initial set up (was trying to do it without removing the covers since they are presents) and now one of the unlucky grannies have to learn Russian cause I can't get it back to English!

Overall, its a simple very basic value for money !? proposition (that is if you do not belong to the side thinking you should get a much better deal for 45 GBP, I do).

Regards

digital frame

Sturdy from Northumberland England - 5 out of 5.

This frame was bought for our mother, and as she is in her mid seventies, we did not want it to be too complicated for her to use. She loves it and is managing to use it and enjoy it.

Safe packaging, fast delivery. This frame has all the basics for an easy use, and good quality pictures impression. If you are looking for a nice design and cool options (transition effects, resizing of pictures...), then this is a hit!

Pretty good value for money.

Paula P - 4 out of 5.

My Mum loved this present - always complained that she'd not enough pictures of her grandchildren and now she can forever gaze at their slide show images! Pretty good value for money - only 2 comments.
Crops images when shown in their original form meaning close ups of faces are sometimes missing chins and hair.
Would be wonderful if battery was rechargable so not dependent on mains supply.
Overall though, really happy. Easy to use and you really do plug in, put in card and view images as it advertises.

Also many thanks to Amazon for Superfast delivery!

I hate this frame

Yan - 1 out of 5.

~the software bogged down my computer and I had to remove it--
~it won't read half my pictures and says the file is bad because I have a high megapixel camera--
~it is way too oversimplified for me--they tried to make it easy to use for people who are not very tech savy--but the options are annoyingly limited--

kodak P820 8" digital picture frame

Mrs. J. Moutrey - 5 out of 5.

I am very pleased with my Kodak P820 8" digital picture frame. I find it very easy to use and have had no problems with it at all. I would recommend this item to everyone.

Bug-ridden internal software

G. Streeter from UK - 2 out of 5.

As usual these days the hardware is let down by poor quality software. The frame fails to operate according to the settings (e.g. random mode) when restarted and you have to manually toggle each setting to get it to recognise the values you have already set. Extremely slow to read the contents of a card when inserted (even ultra high speed SD). Overall quite disappointing. See the Kodak web support site for this product for further observations by users. You might want to consider an alternative that actual does what it says on the box.

Fantastic Gift!

StikFan - 5 out of 5.

I was having a really hard time finding a gift for my sister-in-law's 40th birthday and eventually chose this out of the hundreds of digital photo frames available. It's fantastically easy to operate, I filled a memory stick full of photos and plugged it in - bob's your uncle ready to go. She was really thrilled as I've got hundreds of photos that she'd never seen before (the age of digital photography means you take loads and then they just sit on your laptop in a folder doing nothing!)...fantastic!

Good old Kodak!

M. Cameron from Epsom,, Surrey United Kingdom - 4 out of 5.

This is a very good quality product and better, I think, without the standard black edging. What you expect of Kodak.

Kodak Easy share 820

M. Singleton - 4 out of 5.

I wanted an easy to use digital photo frame to give as a present for elderly relatives. It had to be of a reasonably high quality and I was looking to spend £100 maximum. I reviwed quite a few and visited several shops. (I can't recommend Curreys, the staff do not seem to know anything about their products, and read from the box to tell you its features. That is when you when you finally manage to get someones attention.)The Kodak P820 seemed to fit the bill with regards to quality, ease of use and price. I was not disappointed. So much so I purchased a second one! It does very slightly trim the photos but it appears most brands do and it does not have its own memory but at £64 there was plenty of change for a memory card. Overall I would happily recommend this product.

Great picture quality

L. W. Newton from Nottingham, U.K. - 4 out of 5.

I have owned this Kodak P720 picture frame for around 8 weeks now, and mine has developed a fault in the form of a permanent white line across the screen, so returning to the place of purchase today for a replacement. This frame was purchased to replace a cheap frame that completely failed after around a years use.

Whilst this frame was working OK I found it very easy to use, the touch sensitive border is fantastic, straight forward menu with plenty of options available. The feature of this frame that I particularly like is the timer function, you can program the frame to come on and go off at set periods, saving energy and money in the process.

The display of this frame is bright and vibrant giving life to pictures that you put on show, the frame accepts SD, SDHC, MMC and USB sticks. Kodak have also supplied software with this frame that allows you to trim photo to a 16:9 ratio format.

This frame comes with self adhesive borders that are simple to apply and give the frame a smart appearance, they are also easily removed from the frame and re-applicable as long as you keep the backing they come on, there's also a stand that clips onto the rear of the frame.

In the box:
7" white photo frame
Power supply complete with UK and 2 pin EU adaptors
Clip on frame stand, portrait or landscape option.
2 self adhesive borders. Silver and dark red.
Kodak picture frame software
Quick start instructions
In depth instruction manual
Cleaning cloth

Overall in the 8 weeks I have owned this frame I have been very happy with it, yes it has developed a fault but I feel this is just bad luck as I have not read any other reports of these frames failing.

I can highly recommend this frame over cheaper alternatives.

very good

W. Davies - 4 out of 5.

Very easy to use and nice bright pictures. Doesn't have a massive range of functions, and does need the mains lead plugged in all the time, but for this price I think its very good value for money.

Kodak Digital Frame

miss s offor - 5 out of 5.

I bought this as an Xmas gift foy my mum so she could have pictures of the grand kids. The picture quality is really good and you can either display one picture or have a slide show playing. You can also put it on a timer to go on and off automatically.

It has a touch border so you can flip through pictures at your leisure. My mum is a techniphobe and even she can use it.

I would definitely recommend it and have no negatives to say.

Digital frame very good

C. Maidman from Essex - 4 out of 5.

Very pleased with our P720 digital photo frame. We received one as a gift and then purchased one for a friend.A word of warning-we were too hasty inserting the memory card from my camera and it was too small and needed a larger converter- we almost lost it inside the machine but managed to retrieve it!

Great Quality and Easy to Use

Crafty Marie - 5 out of 5.

This photo viewer works like a dream.

- It can take both SD cards and USB sticks which is very useful
- The photo quality considering the size is excellent - as good as some I've seen at twice the price
- It is easy to use as we had it up and running within minutes
- Is a great way to view family photos instead of being stuck in a dusty old album which rarely gets looked at
- Love the different colour borders you can use to match your decor
- Excellent price

It was the perfect gift for my hubby who is difficult to buy for. After seeing ours we've had 2 couples go out and buy exactly the same viewer.

Kodak P820

The product itself is great, but it takes a bit of technical know-how to get pictures onto the frame and to play in the 'correct order'

Cheap ... and it works!

Ascylto from Manchester, UK - 4 out of 5.

I bough a Kodak and a cheaper frame. The Kodak was undoubtedly better both in controls and definition. My friend was impressed, especially with the available mattes and also ordered one from Amazon. I think I'll buy another.

kodak p720 - perfect for shy technophobes !!

Ms. A. L. Perry from derbyshire, uk - 5 out of 5.

This is a great little product - those shy technophobes out there like me will love it - your children will almost think you know what you are doing - it's very simple but doesn't have big buttons or large print which make you feel patronised, it's great to display the photos instead of having them locked inside a dusty book, we want more !!
The picture is good quality, it's easy to use and set up, it's worth spending that little bit more - it's not big and bulky, a great present.

Picture frame solves viewing problem

F. Goad from Yorkshire, England - 5 out of 5.

Showing digital photos on a computer screen is inconvenient, and on a TV scren is limited to the home. This excellent device allows me to show all my photos in and away from home provided there is a mains electricity supply. It is easily transportable in a small back pack, the frame controls are simple and intuitive after only a short familiarisation time, and the picture quality is superb. With a large number of photos on a SD memory card inserted it is easy to select which ones to show. As the screen aspect ratio is not the same as the original photos, in full screen mode there is some inevitable cropping of the image, but this is counteracted by the image slowly moving to show the whole picture. One minor criticism is that if blocks of pictures are loaded in separate files with names or dates etc, it does not appear to always list them in strict alphabetical or numerical order. Overall this piece of kit is very well designed for its purpose and the large 8" screen version well worth the extra money.

Nice

Ms. G. Cox - 5 out of 5.

Easy to use and like the option that you can use a memory stick or camera card, touch screen is easy to use, only thing that I would mention is that I thought that the boarders where on the photoframe but you have to change them manually by the cards you get with it, but saying that it is an excellent purchase

A gift purchase I now want

J. Simms from UK - 4 out of 5.

A gift bought for an elderly uncle, set up within minutes and which I now want for myself.
Would have rated it higher except that I am not expert enough to know what is worthy of the full 5* and also it has too many good features to be easily handled by an elderly person.
However, easily set-up, looks good, with relatively simple menus illustrated around the frame's border.
A good purchase.

Fantastic photo frame

R. Watton from Wales - 5 out of 5.

Bought this as a birthday present for a relative, because I wanted one that is easy to use with higher than average resolution. Haven't needed to use the manual once, just plug an SD card in, turn it on and it shows the pictures straight away.
Dead easy to use, with the touch sensitive border, no remote or buttons. You can 'drag' photos across each other, and it has a number of fade effects. The picture quality is much better than my PC monitor!

It has 2 card slots (one SD/SHDC/MS/XD/MMC, and one SD/SDHC) and a USB slot. You can easily move photos between the cards and a USB flash drive, and even plug a camera directly in to the frame. So sorting out photos is really easy.
In response to the reviewer who said you can't display thumbnails from a USB drive if the photos are in a folder: this is wrong, you can display thumbnails regardless of whether the photos are in a folder or not, but it can be confusing. When you select thumbnails, you just see a folder icon. Pressing Select does nothing. You need to press Play, then select Thumbnails to display them. A little trial and error will sort it out.
The screen fits a 2816x1584 photo perfectly (or similar higher resolution) so set your camera to this aspect ratio. Otherwise the frame will stretch the photos to fit.
If you have a lot of portrait photos, you can just set the frame to stand on end.

Very impressed, would recommend it to anyone.

This really hit the mark for a present.

E. Ross - 5 out of 5.

I bought two of these for Christmas presents. One for a computer literate member of the family who was delighted that she was now going to be able to choose and display favourite photos. But the real hit was for my elderly father for whom I could find and display pictures of his family from times past and present. He was absolutely delighted. The picture frame was easy and instinctive to manage and holds a huge number of photos. I was even able to scan and display photos from the 1940s onwards ... some looking very retro, but a joy to an elderly person who treasures memories from long ago.

Poor Product, Flawed Design

RS1800 from East Anglia, UK - 1 out of 5.

I ordered one of Kodak's P820 digital frames back in November 2008 as a christmas present for my parents, after purchasing a Kodak SV811 digital frame for my father-in-law back in December 2007. His frame has worked without flaws since then, and so I felt confident in ordering this updated version, which uses the border touch operation instead of the previous versions remote control unit.

Upon loading images to a 2GB SD card (the max. size officially supported by the unit) and loading it into one of the two SD slots, the frame cycled through the images for about 20 minutes before freezing completely. The screen image disappeared to be replaced with what looked like a thin horizontal bar of static, and all attempts to turn the unit to standby using the onboard standby button failed, the frame having to be turned off at the wall outlet and then back on again.

This unit was returned to Amazon for a replacement in early January, and a replacement was duly received within 3 working days (well done Amazon!)

This unit was then duly tested, with exactly the same symptons being demonstrated. This unit was duly returned to Amazon for a refund, which again was processed by Amazon in double quick time, well done again.

In short, for great customer service, use Amazon with confidence, for a great digital frame, don't buy this Kodak P820 frame, it's bobbins. Maybe these two units were from a bad 'Friday afternoon' batch, maybe with the border touch operation there is just too much technology packed into a small space, maybe the R&D has been rushed. Who knows, but if I was you, I'd steer well clear and pick another manufacturers frame, possibly the newly released range from Sony?

Tricky but fun

I. G. Mackay from East Lothian Scotland - 3 out of 5.

Thee a lot cheaper versions out there, but the quality is good. The touch screen controls take a while to get used to but once you have figured it out it is a versatile bit of kit.

Not the best for the price

A Person from UK - 3 out of 5.

Good functions but the quality is not as good as I would expect from Kodak.
It looks ok from a distance but the close up the screen shows lots of pixels, not as good as others I've seen in this price range.
Does the job but wouldn't go for this again.

Fantastic Picture Frame

David A. Hayes from England - 5 out of 5.

This Kodak P720 digital photo Frame does what it says, very clear pictues and simple to use. You can set it up in minutes and it worked with on problems at all. I would highly recommend this product, specially with it's two inputs of SD card and USB slots. Which gives you more ways in its use. Its quick touch border controls are good and prevents you from touching the main screen. Also you can change the main frame colour as two colour borders are issued with this product.

Easy to use frame with touch screen controls, which solves the problem of lost remotes!I have reasonable knowledge of using p.c s and digital cameras so found it very easy to use.Even if you are new to these there was a quick users guide.you just need to insert your memory card and switch on.The colours and picture quality is as good as the original pictures. Also comes with different frame colours so you can change them to suit your decor.

Good Choice

V. Johnson - 4 out of 5.

Bought it for my parents to display all the photos they have of my new son. They were thrilled. A bit of fiddling to begin with (no-one could be bothered with the intruction manual on Christmas day) and they have the hang of it fine. Instinct tells you to touch the screen to activate the functions but you just have to remember to use the white bit below. Looks smart and the resolution is perfectly fine for what we use it for.

Great, easy to use

Mr. M. Brooks - 4 out of 5.

Great product, great looking and very easy to use. Only prob is that if the picture being displayed has different width/height proportions to the frame (and all my photos have), it cuts the bottom of your picture off when in full screen mode. Otherwise, when not in that mode, some pictures have black sided borders. This is understandable so it doesn't distort the picture to display in full screen but it would be better if there were smaller zoom increments so you could display the picture exactly as you want. The zooming seems to be all or nothing.

Bought this product after reading various review on this and similair items. Went for the name as much as anything and haven't been disappointed. Fiddly Frame

G. Bennett from Beccles, Suffolk United Kingdom - 2 out of 5.

I bought this product largely on the reviews posted here; however, it did not live up to my expectations. For one thing, it was mains-only, and I thought it would be battery also. Many of the photos I loaded from a memory stick failed to show, just a blank space and a comment that the photo was faulty. The frame itself has no memory: I thought you'd be able to save dozens of photos on it but you have to put the stick in every time you want to show any. The alternative 'trim' peeled off almost straight away. I don't find the touch control easy to use. All in all, disappointing!

Amateur buyer

Mr. Walter R. Adams - 5 out of 5.

Bought this as a cheap but well reviewed OK size viewer.
Went with the only spec I could find which was 480x234 pixels.
Tried to optimise my pictures to this resolution.
Was disappointed... until I realised that, at least what I was
sent is MUCH BETTER. This model appears to be much higher res
than sold, I am VERY IMPRESSED by this, once I stopped trying
to 'optimise' my images, I don't believe this is just 480x234.
I must have mistook the specs because this shows pictures at
a much higher resolution. Haven't worked out yet what it is
capable of but it is definitely beyond advertised. Well worth
every penny.

So easy

PrimaDiva from UK - 5 out of 5.

Couldn't wait to get it out of the box! It was so easy to set up and use. Took a short time to get the hang of the side bar menus, but once that was sorted, we were away. At last can see the hundreds of digital images we've taken over the past few years but not got around to printing. In fact, we probably will get some prints done now as we've been reminded what we've got!

Brilliant, give good results and you can control the time delays for the photos, touch sensitive controls very easy to get the grip of. Again good buy if I say so myself.

Easy but wrong size

aepclondon from London, England - 3 out of 5.

This is a great, easy to work digital frame. My 12 year old figured it out!

However, be warned: the screen is not a typical photo proportion. It is HD, not 4 by 6 inch. To view the photos I have to choose either to have the photo "fill the frame" and thus chop off or stretch my photo, or "fit" which then shows the photos with a black bar filling the gap on the sides. Since the frame is white, this is unsightly.

You might be better off choosing a frame in 4 by 6 proportion if you like your images true to size or a black frame so the black bar is not noticeable.

Slightly disappointed

Ice Maiden from London - 3 out of 5.

I bought this for my parents for Christmas. As they are in their 80's, I set it up so that they would just have to switch it on and off for a slide show; they would never cope with the touch frame controls, which are quite cumbersome. I agree that the picture quality is pretty good, but no matter what I did, I could not get the 'sort' function to work, in terms of displaying the files in either date order or alphabetical order. In the hope of getting this resolved prior to Christmas, I went on to the Kodak technical support online chat desk - an abysmal service. Firstly, getting connected is a major problem, and then it had a tendency to hang my computer (on several occasions). The technical advisers merely quote from the user instructions; needless to say I had tried all those options several times over. Eventually they advised me to download the Kodak firmware, which I did, but it made no difference. The pictures are displayed in any old random order each time the frame is switched on - not even in the order they are on the memory card! Today I phoned Kodak and was advised that if the pictures are not downloaded from a KODAK camera, it is not possible to display them in date order! I find this quite bizarre. However, it seems I should be able to put them in alphabetical order. "Been there, done that", I said, having already tried renaming all the individual files long ago. The only suggestion left by Kodak was to send the frame in for repair, which I probably won't do, as the frame is now 100 miles away from me. If anyone else can throw any light on the sort function, I would love to know.

Works well, and simple to use - recommended

S. J. Sharpe from Marlow, Bucks - 5 out of 5.

Bought one of these as an Xmas gift for my good lady as we have thousands of digital photos we never see. The set up is easy to do - simple instructions and straightforward controls - very user friendly. provides a good variety of display timings and transition options (we use 10 mins between changes and its just right any more frequent and it's distracting). The Frame works well and accepted an old 512 mb SD card with no problems. Up close - less than 2 feet - the pictures can look a bit grainy; however, when viewed outside that distance you cannot tell the difference from a normal print. In fact, with the frames' normal backlighting the effect is excellent. A number of friends have commented on the frame and 2 have gone as far as buying one - can't give a better recomendation than that. You will not be dissapointed unless you want to view all your pictures from 18 inches away - if that's the case, a digital frame is not for you as they all have a similar issue. My only regret - that I did not buy the 8 or 10 inch version!!

Good display, clunky device

Martin Berry from Surrey, England. - 3 out of 5.

This digital photoframe stands out for having a very clear LCD display which shows the detail and colours of digital photos accurately and distinctly. It sits very well in our kitchen showing photos from my USB stick and it makes the conventional photographs next to it look drab by comparison. Its great benefit is that it puts on view as a slideshow all those photos that otherwise would languish unseen and perhaps forgotten on your computer's hard drive. On the minus side, the display is relatively small, the user interface is not very intuitive and rather slow, the touch sensitive surround that you use to control the photoframe is awkward to use, and it doesn't seem to display all the photos on the USB stick especially when there is a large number there (which also seems to slow it down significantly), while the order in which it decides to show photos is a mystery. In conclusion, this photoframe, received as a Xmas gift, has given us a lot of pleasure but there are a number of aspects where Kodak could make improvements.

Wow!

Tardiskey from Southampton, UK - 5 out of 5.

I have to admit, I bought this thinking that I may find a few things wrong with it, but I didn't. It is a fantastic photo viewer- the pictures are crystal clear. It is so simple to use. It looks stunning, and it comes with two interchangeable frames. Now, I have to say- they are not very interchangeable. You have to have either one on at any one time- the white one shown has stickers all over it ('Touch here to activate' etc.), and the supplied frames stick to it- it would be extremely hard to peel them off. But, when you do apply either the silver or lipstick red frame, the frame looks brilliant. It has a USB input, but if you want one in permanently, buy a small one- otherwise they stick out of the frame! But it has two SD card slots, and is compatible with SDHC cards- they do not mention this on Amazon! It has a touch border interface, which at times, is slightly unresponsive, but you get used to it. USB sticks sometimes fail to load the pictures on the frame, but this is easily solved. It has two plugs- one European, one square pin. The cable connecting to the mains is hardly discreet, and isn't extremely long either.

But, it is easy to make slideshows, and you can program which times it is on, which is fantastic- but the frame cannot show you the current time on demand. It automatically resizes photos- even high resolutions. It is a fantastic piece of kit, and allows you to copy and delete photos on the frame onto other devices. I love it, but it does not allow you to copy into certain folders within a plugged in device. It doesn't have any memory of it's own- so make sure you have an SD card or USB flash drive. Anyway, it is a fantastic piece of photography hardware, and works flawlessly. I will definitely buy from Kodak again.

The price is brilliant, too- in Argos it is £70

Don't delay! Buy it today!

Nearly a great product !

Mr. Alan Pilkington - 4 out of 5.

Very happy with the frame and can definitely recommend it for it's ease of use and picture display, but it does have some annoying features.
It doesn't have an internal battery so it resets itself when unplugged from the mains - you have to re-enter date, times, etc.
When showing photos in "random mode" it appears to go through the same sequence at startup or when using the schedule/timer.
It can be slow when navigating through folders and subfolders to select which photos to dislay. I found it best to not bother making a selection and just switch it off and back on again and it automatically starts showing all photos.
If using a memory stick in the usb port, be aware that most sticks will be visible at the side of the frame as they tend to be too long. It makes you wonder how that got past the design review !
If you want to fill the whole frame with photos you need to select 'fill the frame' mode (or something like that). This will cut off some details around photos. Again, why couldn't they make the digital frame to fit digital photo sizes properly !
Overall, very pleased, apart from these niggles.

Much appreciated gift

T. S. Ager from Birmingham UK - 5 out of 5.

I bought the Kodak P720 Digital photo frame for my Husband's Christmas present. I was over-awed by the amount of different frames around, but after reading the reviews of this frame (and others), decided to buy this one.
We have not been disappointed, the quality of the pictures is so good and it is so easy to use. The slide show option is such a lovely way of showing off your photographs, everyone has been very impressed.

Buy it!

W. Shaw - 5 out of 5.

An excellent way to display all those photos that just sit on your computer. Easy to use & excellent picture quality. I bought a 4GB memory card to plug in & with a massive number of photos transferred onto it it's a delight! Just buy it, you will not regret it!

Good picture frame

kcampbel from UK - 4 out of 5.

I bought this as a present this year from Amazon along with a non-branded 8" picture frame by 'Text' from Jessops.

First of all I am a convert to Digital photo frames as they unlock all those photos stored in Picassa folders on your PC. I thought having the images changing would be annoying however slowing it down to once a minute gives a great illuminated display in a dull corner of the room.

As for the frame itself - absolutely fine - although 7" is a touch small I found - 8" with a thinner border works better for me. One has to think how would you display photos in olden days.....if the objects of the image were small would you put them in a 7x5 frame...the answer is probably no, thus accept that it will not work in digital either (unless you have the eye sight of an eagle).

The operation of the Kodak was very easy and touch screen worked great. I dont want a remote etc that other units come with. I just want somehing to display photos and this is what this does.

(I just want a 10 " model for myself)

Very happy

Andrew J. Colclough from Derbyshire, England - 5 out of 5.

Took five minutes to get it set up and displaying pictures. The picture quality is sharp and bright and it has far more features than other frames in this price range (including ability to randomly display images). The aspect ratio on all digital frames doesn't match the size of my digital photos - one frame I bought regulary chopped off the tops of people's heads when cropping images to fit the screen but this kodak one never chops off heads when displaying the same pictures. It's easy to use and great for my Mum who doesn't have a PC - she can do everything she needs to using the frame.

Excellent value, great picture quality

Kenny Smith from UK - 4 out of 5.

This is a great quality frame for the price - picture quality is excellent and the product is really easy to use - just plug in a USB memory stick or an SD card and you're up and running in seconds.

I can't give this product the full 5 stars because the interface, whilst very usable, is not always completely intuitive and the frame is a bit more limited than I expected in some respects, such as transitions and resizing/scaling picture options.

However, for the price, the great picture quality and the ease of use, you can't go wrong.

To the reviewer who found the product did not have a UK plug with it - the product must have been badly packed - my frame came with both a European plug and a UK plug.

To the reviewer who found the frame to be low quality plastic - the plastic does feel a bit "cheap" but it still looks good and it doesn't affect the use or enjoyment of the product.

The Plug - it's French!

Mr. W. Le Breton from UK - 1 out of 5.

I can't rate this because I can't plug it in to a square pin socket. The really neat plug has an interchangeable system for the different pins you need around the world. My box came with the good old two round pin French plug. Not much good for Christmas Eve in the UK and no sign of a uk square pin anywhere in the box. Am I being stupid and missing something????

Doesn't do what it says on the box...

Phil St Albans from St Albans UK - 1 out of 5.

Like others I bought this for parents. I'm just attempting to set it up before Christmas, but it won't display photos from a memory stick that I have unplugged from my own (working) digital picture frame. The off button doesn't work and the touch border only works when it wants to. As for the quality of construction, it's underwhelming - cheap and tacky plastic.

Not easy to navigate

A. Muir Wood from Cambridge, UK - 3 out of 5.

I have just bought this as a Christmas gift for my technophobic mother so that she can see the family's digital photos at her leisure since we are too Scottish to ever print them out on paper for her. I've just opened it up and tried it out for the first time and it has surprisingly good resolution, very good brightness, and plenty of slide show options. However despite other reviewers claiming ease of use, I would disagree (and I am a young technophile with years of VCR, PC, iPod and Microwave experience).

The menu system is slow and browsing thumbnails also takes time, especially when there are a high number of pictures on the card. There is a delay on every operation. Selecting, copying, and deleting photos is clunky and irrational - I immediately deleted the wrong photo by accident because I had it "selected" while actually viewing another (solution: lock your memory cards, read-only your USB sticks).

But the biggest annoyance is the completely counter-intuitive scrolling operation. By western conventions, if I want to look at the next photo, I will press the forward or right hand arrow. But on this device you press the left hand arrow - pointing backwards. This is because Kodak have tried to be overly clever with a dragging operation which just gets tired (and irritates my finger) after browsing through more than a couple of photos. What's wrong with pressing the right hand side of the frame to look at the next photo, and pressing the left hand side to look at the previous one!! The software supplied is also slow and not intuitive to use.

In conclusion, I will see how my mother gets on with this (hopefully she'll do fine), but I fear that she will be too baffled by the controls and too scared of deleting photos to actually use it for browsing when I'm not around - so it will remain purely for slideshows.

Disappointing Kodak - you can do better.

Great Frame for the Price

Flyingscot from Scotland - 4 out of 5.

I bought this frame as a gift and I have to say it is fantastic for the price. I am always dubious about the really cheap frames, and the Kodak name settled it for me.

The touch frame, and the looks are superb and I really enjoyed watching pictures on the frame.

Only criticisms? Resolution can sometimes be a bit unclear if I am being harsh and the menus are not the most intuitive and can be a bit slow in responding to the touch.

My advice would be to buy an SD card to keep with the frame and load pictures onto rather than use the one in your camera. For £2 makes up for the lack of internal memory and this price you can't complain.

Very impressed

P. Turner - 5 out of 5.

From the reviews of many photo frames in this price range I wasn't expecting such a good display quality - especially as my mobile phone has 240x320 resolution in a display only 1.8" in size.

Initially I loaded images pre-sized at 480x234 and they were disappointing. Then I put some un-edited images on direct from a camera and some were poor and some were very sharp. I experimented and found that the software on the frame will re-sample images for display and it does a very good job. I got very good results with images at 960x468 (twice the display dimensions) and the results are impressive. It obviously re-samples and uses anti-aliasing to give smooth edges.

I then created some JPG images of my own (not photos) at the same resolution and they got rescaled slightly. After more experimenting, I set the DPI in the file to be 72x72 and the photo frame displayed my image correctly. I suspect it reads a lot of the photo data from the EXIF headers and will do a good job (in most cases) at displaying the image in the right proportions.

I have only tried images resized to fit the, slightly unconventional, size of the display. This does mean cropping out the middle of the image. The frame does allow the image to be stretched/cropped/scaled but I prefer to have control of what it displays.

The colour reproduction is excellent. It matches my LCD monitor but is slightly more yellow than my CRT - I suspect that my CRT is wrong.

On top of the great image quality, the ease of use made this a winner for me. The touch controls are so easy to use and no chance of a lost remote control!
The slide show has timings from 3 seconds to 1hour. There is also an on/off time - i.e. turn on at 8am and off at 7pm. It is mains only - no battery (but I'm not sure if any other are anyway).

I would recommend this.

Highly Recommended

H. Easton from Cumbria, UK - 5 out of 5.

Like one of the other reviewers I bought this as a Christmas gift and was confused by the huge amount of Digital Photo Frames on the market. In the end, based on mostly positive reviews whereever I could find them, I went for Kodak's P720 and I can only highly recommend it. I wanted an inexpensive gadget only to loop through a slide show of images - I wasn't interested in sound or video, so this was ideal. I read a negative review saying when you view faces close up they have no definition but I don't agree - as long as your picture is of a decent enough size then this gadget copes extremely well. I'm really pleased with the way the images are shown, even shocked at the quality - the backlighting is lovely and the colours are very true. The interface is very intuitive but don't try pressing the screen like I did at first, as its not touch screen, its activated by touching the frame. The only slightly negative point I have to make about this, is I expected to be able to copy images from my USB thumb drive/SD card onto the device itself. Maybe it was foolish of me, but I did think there was a little bit of internal storage which would hold the images to display. I was wrong - you need to leave your USB/card permanently connected to the device in order to show the images. I would recommend buying a USB drive as a gift to go with this - even if its just a small capacity one. For USB drives also, this can't look inside directory structures, so save all the images you need to display in the root of the drive.

piece of cake to use

A. Dancyger from UK - 5 out of 5.

this is my first purchase of a digital picture frame, a xmas gift, and i was a bit swamped by all of the products available. from helpful customer reviews i narrowed it down to either kodak or phillips, and the price cut and emphasis on ease of use clinched it. the quality seems excellent to me, the touch border operations will be a doddle for doting grandparent to use, true, no remote is better in this case. the software included makes everything so easy, i cannot emphasise the ease of use enough. i have nearly 500 photos on a 2gb card, its a wonderful present!

Superb stuff - best I've seen for the price!

Winston Smith from London - 5 out of 5.

This is amazingly good value. Does everything and all with NO FIDDLY REMOTE. The last frame I had was not a Kodak one (it was a gift) and it was good - it got me interested in digital frames (didn't like the idea at first), but the quality wasn't as good as a Kodak one and what you can do with this is much MUCH better. Highly recommended.
